Hormone balancing Brazilnut yogurt
This yogurt is quick to make and is packed with selenium: a trace element which forms important proteins to keep the immune system strong. Selenium, found in Brazil nuts, also ensures that our cells stay healthy and this trace element is stored in the muscles and the thyroid gland. The thyroid again needs selenium (and iodine) to secrete thyroid hormones. So enjoy this hormone balancing creamy brazil nut yogurt.
Ingredients Brazil nut yogurt
300 grams of organic Brazil nuts
4 Medjool dates – remove the pit.
pinch of salt
500 ml water
Place the Brazil nuts in a bowl of water for 2 hours. Drain the water after 2 hours and put 350 ml of water together with the Brazil nuts, dates and salt in a blender. Blend on low setting for 30 seconds, then add another 150ml of water. Turn the blender on high for 1 minute and then turn it off.
Put the ‘yogurt’ in a container with a tight-fitting lid and store in the refrigerator. this yogurt will keep for 3 days. Otherwise, serve 4 tablespoons of the Brazil nut ‘yogurt’ with some granola or muesli. Delicious with goji and inca berries and some kiwi. An easy and nutritious breakfast.
