Welcome at Well Up North
Well refers not only to feeling good but also to a source. In addition to nutrition, I am considering all factors that play a role in your life. I have guided many North Americans during their path to health and I am continuing to do so from the North of the Netherlands. Well Up North is your nutritional source of information guiding you to overall well being.
Lorette Steenman, Functional Nutrition Coach
Digestive issues, hormonal imbalances or dealing with an auto-immune disease?
You are in good hands! I have experience guiding people with digestive and intestinal issues as well as hormonal imbalances. By optimizing factors such as digestion, sleep, stress and exercise the body can reach homeostasis again and you can live pain free and with ease. The impact these above mentioned factors have on our gut bacteria is enormous and thereby also influence our hormones and how we feel.
By focusing on 4 pillars of health (digestion, sleep, stress and movement) people with an auto-immune disease can also benefit from my consults. In addition I specialize in Preventive Nutrition: avoiding chronic disease through food and lifestyle.
I am there to guide you in your journey to reduce physical and mental complaints so you feel your very best again.
Functional Nutrition Coach
As a Functional Nutrition Coach and Yoga Teacher I happily assist you in making smart and healthy food choices, leading you to live an energetic and balanced life. Together we will ensure that your health concerns are minimized or even better, disappear entirely.
Digestion
By optimizing digestion, minerals and vitamin absorption is increased. Poor digestion on the other hand prevents us from breaking down our food properly and can easily lead to food intolerances or allergies. Once deficiencies occur we are much more prone to disease.
Movement
Whether you are a bootcamp lover or more up for a walk in nature, physical exercise increases feel good chemicals in the brain. It even has been shown to be helpful in symptoms related to mild depression. Pick a regular daily activity that you enjoy and get moving!
Stress
Some stress can be good for the body but when there is long-term stress it impacts our digestive organs, our immune system and even our waist line. Chronic stress can shut down digestion preventing mineral and vitamin absorption as well as depositing more fat around our abdomen.
Sleep
We all feel it when we deprive ourselves of sleep. Recent research shows that only when we sleep, a so-called glymphatic system is turned on. This system operates as a waste clearance system, trying to get rid of waste products that have accumulated in the brain during the day.
Testimonial
I would highly recommend Lorette Steenman as a holistic nutritionist. After 2 years of chemotherapy I consulted her for guidance in my food choices and life style. She was extremely helpful, making appropriate suggestions and recommendations. She was very thorough and professional providing me with lots of new information.
